Festival goers can expect a host of activities by partners during both days of the Night Festival, such as the SMU night bazaar flea-market stalls. The Substation will hold their popular Unconference session, as well as introduce a new exploratory tour of the areas around the Substation, led by local visual artist Amanda Heng.

LATE NIGHT FREE ADMISSION
Free admission at the following NHB Museums on 10 & 11 July 2009, from 6pm till 2am.

The Substation and its Gallery will open till midnight on 10 and 11 July 2009.

The Museum Shop by Banyan Tree at the National Museum of Singapore will extend its operating hours till 10pm on 10 and 11 July 2009.

It is time to jazz it up at SAM! Groove to the sweet tunes from the line up of our stellar Singapore based jazz artistes. Expect anything from soulful jazz numbers from Michelle and Friends, sing the blues away with Alemay & Friends, and percussionist Bobby Singh, as well as bassist Clement, or tap to the beat with classic favourites from The LittleBigBand. Unwind, put on your dancing shoes and swing to that old time feeling!

FourMics – BREAKS

Funk out on the Art Museum’s front lawn with a fusion of Hiphop, Indie, Electronic and more music backed by renowned Zouk DJ Andrew Chow with his turntable tricks, breaking and scratching on the decks. Expect open mic sessions and a whole lot of unheard and unseen talents! It's time to spread the love! The first 250 at the scene of the party will get free entry to Zouk that night! A collaboration between Singapore Art Museum and Zouk.

Discover Peranakan Museum After Dark!
10 & 11 Jul 2009 | 6.30pm – 10.30pm
Peranakan Museum

Enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities in the Glow-in-the-Dark room at the Peranakan Museum! Make your own Peranakan paper jewellery and test your knowledge of the Peranakan culture. Make a guess at mystery artefacts and win exciting prizes! Be sure to catch Night at the Museum as well as other movies, and visit the dazzling Baba Bling: The Peranakans & Their Jewellery exhibition. Groove to the tunes by a jazz trio inspired by this exhibition. Children can also participate in self-guided treasure hunts at the Museum.

Family activities are from 6.30pm till 10.30pm, on 10 July only. Self-guided treasure hunts for children are on 11 July only.

Local visual artist, Amanda Heng, will lead participants, in an interactive activity based around the history and memories of the location around the vicinity of The Substation.

In a pragmatic society like Singapore where time, speed, efficiency and instant success are the dominating rules and order, the act of walking is often regarded as purely functional. This project proposes revisiting this most fundamental and often ignored body action of walking, to explore important relations and possibilities.

Unconference
10 & 11 Jul 2009 | 7.30pm – 10.30pm
The Substation Theatre
Free admission, registration required. Please email emily@substation.org to register. Participants must be over 18 years of age, drinks and refreshments are provided.

Unconference goes straight to the fun part of a conference – the chatting and networking. Participants have four minutes for a speed-dating style one-on-one chat on the topic The struggle of the starving artist – necessity or romantic myth? Indulge in deep discussions about the arts through fun challenges and stimuli provided by the organisers. At the end of the evening, four lucky participants will get the chance to enjoy an exclusive late-night supper on the rooftop of The Substation!

The Unconference series was first presented at the Singapore Art Show 2007. Due to popular demand, more sessions were presented at the Night Festival 2008 and Singapore Biennale 2008.
