Held in conjunction with Christian Lacroix the costumier Part of Life & Living - Food & Culture Series
The April – June 2009 series of workshops will start with A French Affair – a series of four specially designed workshops held in conjunction with the Christian Lacroix the costumier.
Desserts must not only taste good, they must look good too! No wonder then that celebrated French patissiers such as Pierre Hermé and Ladurée dedicate so much time to turning their shop fronts into a visual feast. Explore the wonderful world of French pastries and desserts and find out what goes into producing and designing these little works of art, in particular, that elegant French creation - the macaroon. Tantalise your taste buds with the different flavours ranging from traditional rose to funky black sesame, and learn how to make it yourself in this exclusive workshop by one of Singapore's top pastry chefs, Steven Ong.
Pastry chef Steven Ong has had a long and illustrious career that includes stints at five star hotels such as the Conrad Centennial Singapore and Four Seasons Hotel. He represented Singapore at the prestigious Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie in 1999 and 2001 and at the World Pastry Team Championship in 2004. In 2007, Chef Steven founded Centre Ps, a patisserie which has won awards for its wonderful desserts, including its macaroons.
Life & Living - Food & Culture Series
Life & Living is the National Museum of Singapore's annual line-up of lifestyle programmes aimed at creating refreshing new ways of discovering and engaging different aspects of history in a relaxed, informal manner. The Food & Culture series places the appreciation of food and drink, fashion and design, in interesting cultural and historical contexts, while demonstrating how they are indelibly linked to the present.
