Kathakali is a traditional Indian drama-dance art form, noted for its captivating make-up and elaborate costumes. Organised to complement the Kathakali performance at the Singapore HeritageFest 2016, A Lighter Side of History takes you behind the scenes for a glimpse of the intricate pre-performance preparation, offering insights on the application of Kathakali make-up, as well as the cultural significance of the colours and other details on the costumes.

*Cherita Singapura: Kathakali performance by Bhaskhar’s Arts Academy will take place at 7pm on the front lawn of the National Museum.

About the Academy
Bhaskar’s Arts Academy is a Singapore-based Indian classical dance, music and theatre company with a history dating back to 1952. The Academy believes in contributing to the vibrant arts scene in Singapore, and focuses on high aesthetic value that reflects its late founder KP Bhaskar's legacy and enhances Singapore’s cultural vibrancy. Its uniquely evolving style is reflective of the multicultural Singaporean spirit while being rooted in traditional techniques and philosophy.
