Lion dance is a traditional Chinese celebratory dance featuring a lion head and cape costume, usually performed during festive or auspicious occasions and believed to bring good fortune and wealth. Likely the only remaining full-time lion dance costume craftsman in Singapore, Mr Henry Ng is mostly self-taught and improvised his skills over more than 20 years in the trade. In conjunction with Chinese New Year, Mr Ng will share the story of his journey in the industry and demonstrate key portions of the costume crafting process in this edition of A Lighter Side of History.
